Personally, I don’t believe that anyone dreams of being in sales, however, the buzz it gives you is amazing. Once I had graduated from University (Business Management), I attended Pareto Law who supported me through my sales training. I went on to work in telecommunications before finding my home in recruitment as I wanted to build solid relationships, helping people to achieve their goals.
IDEX’s core values and beliefs are about taking pride in making individuals and businesses successful. They have provided me with training, guidance and support to make me successful as well. The office is friendly and fun, the team are supportive and knowledgeable, and the brand is respected within the financial services sector for offering a unique proposition.
You always hear the negatives about recruitment, so when I was coming into the industry I didn’t really know what to expect. From a professional development perspective, I have had so much support and training from everyone around me. I have also gained a wealth of knowledge regarding the industry, legislations and regulations within financial services and the area I look after, Yorkshire. From a personal side IDEX has given me confidence, showed me how to build strong relationships and taught me what I can achieve with hard work.
I cover the whole of the Yorkshire and specialise in the recruitment across the wealth management industry. I have recruited IFA Administration, Paraplanning, Investment Analysts, Financial Advisers, Senior Compliance (CF10/ CF11) and Business Development Managers.
It depends on whether you are looking for a sales role or something more technical. Sales individuals need to have a flare to their personality and be able to build relationships. They need to be able to listen attentively and have a strong understanding of the legislation and regulation within the wealth management sector. They need to be go-getters who are confident working to targets. For a more technical role they need to have strong attention to detail, accuracy, have a passion to succeed in the industry and consistently want to develop their portfolio. They need to be able to build relationships within the team, as well as developing relationships externally with clients.
Each day in recruitment is NEVER the same, you have ups and downs. You have the ability to really make a difference to a number of people’s futures and I think that’s a key takeaway for me.
I don’t suppose a trip to Thorpe Park and the Christmas party is the right answer! There have been so many! I think my personal development throughout my first year and the development of my confidence is definitely a highlight… Plus it’s enabled me to pay for my wedding!
