Are you a development orientated Commercial Lines Underwriter looking to specialise in a niche technical market?

A highly successful and rapidly growing MGA are looking to appoint a Casualty Underwriter in Leeds, working on complex, technical risks with a panel of Brokers in the Yorkshire region.

What's on offer?
On offer is the chance to work for a genuinely dynamic and rapidly growing MGA with a strong market presence. The position will provide you with the opportunity to develop technically as a true Casualty Underwriter, working at a senior level with key Broker Partners in the region. A salary of c£40,000+ benefits is available with potential to grow beyond this significantly in the future, based on performance.

You will work within a small and focused team, underwriting new business casualty line risks including construction led complex risks. As a Specialist Underwriter, you will work in a highly autonomous manner, the client is keen to identify an individual with the ability to learn their approach to underwriting, away from a system based/rating machine decision making approach.


  • Providing excellent service to Broker Partners to help them win new business cases
  • Underwrite casualty risks where the average premium value is £50,000
  • Manage and develop relationships with Brokers to secure new business and promote the MGA as a preferred market for casualty niche risks

This is the ideal opportunity for an individual looking to step away from a larger Insurer environment, where you are given more autonomy and recognition for your own personal performance.

It is essential you have a commercial insurance knowledge, ideally casualty biased, although this isn't essential. What is key is having the drive and ambition to better yourself and deliver a truly exceptional service to Brokers and ultimately deliver new business results for the MGA.
