Are you a Chartered Accountant and/or an experienced Auditor seeking a change of career? My client, is currently seeking a Business Interruption Specialist to work with national clients who have suffered serious commercial damage to buildings, general contents, equipment and stock. As this will be a career change, there will be support and training given allowing you to become an expert within the major loss team.

As the Business Interruption Specialist you will assess claims ranging from tens of thousands going into the millions as you gain more experience. You will deal with the business interruption claims and detailed financial information such as:

  • Statutory accounts
  • Monthly profit and loss accounts highlighting any particular events that have brought about any dramatic rises or falls in the trend of the business
  • Pre-loss budgets/forecasts for the last three years and current year

Working as part of the major loss team, you will be the first on site after the emergency services to asses losses and damage caused to the business. You will work with with business owners and board members to support reasonable suggestions to minimise any potential loss in insured profit. Measures might typically include:

  • Outsourcing work to subcontractors
  • Working from alternative locations
  • Paying a premium to improve delivery times on plant replacement/building repairs

Qualifications / Key requirements

  • Chartered Accountant
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders
  • Confident and strong communication skills
  • Advanced user of Excel
