An aspirational brand within the insurance sector are looking to expand their regional presence and with this need strong insurance professionals to add to their already successful team. They are looking for a Corporate Commercial Underwriter based in Birmingham and with a great Global name they can offer a competitive package with a strong career path.

An overview of the role:

  • To provide quotations at a mid market to corporate level (plus limited MTA's and renewals work) documented in accordance with procedures and instructions - ensuring service level agreements are achieved, all within own underwriting authority
  • Develop profitable business from commercial Brokers and optimise sales (and renewal retention's is some circumstances) actively contributing to growth targets and conversion ratios
  • To ensure that own work (and the other members of your team) is organised and prioritised in accordance with agreed service, technical and data input, accuracy and TCF requirements
  • To develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and Brokers undertaking external visits, review meetings and audits where appropriate
  • To provide technical assistance and guidance in accordance and within own underwriting authority, refer all cases above authority level (making recommendations as necessary) and to provide assistance to colleagues, other departments and work on specific projects as and when required
  • To ensure a good working knowledge of the products, procedures and management information is achieved and maintained supported by training as required
  • To achieve your key objectives and any additional objectives agreed with you by your manager and any other ad hoc tasks
  • To suggest and or, evaluate and, where appropriate, implement innovative solutions that will support the company and its business Partners by increasing profitability, efficiency or customer service

  • Underwriting experience
  • Communication and organisational skills
  • ACII qualified or progress towards
  • Computer literate
  • Well known in local Broker market
  • Excellent trading abilities and track record writing new business
