An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Investment Performance and Risk Manager (T&C) to join a firm in Manchester city centre. The office is ideally located in the heart of the city's financial district, only a few minute's walk from Manchesters train station.

What you will be doing
You will strategically support the Director of Investment Management in first line supervision requirements and assist on projects including risk monitoring plans.

This will include:

  • Working with the Director of Investment Management to design and develop portfolio risk policies and procedures and portfolio monitoring tools
  • Supervise and monitor business risks by desk-based monitoring with some field-based monitoring
  • To review and monitor work relating to specific managed portfolio issues, including risk profiling and assessment of suitability and recommending remedial action when applicable
  • Manage the end to end processes of the employee life cycle with recruitment & selection, on boarding, Performance (appraisals, performance reviews and succession planning), recognition, and off boarding
  • Act as subject matter expert on all key portfolio risk metrics and practices, including performance, benchmark and statistical data
  • Develop and oversee the execution of the Portfolio Risk Monitoring Plan ("PRMP"), including: Performance monitoring, Asset allocation monitoring, investment selection monitoring and file reviews
  • Prepare and present PRMP findings and recommendations
  • Assist in the development of new entrants
  • Ensure relevant forms are accurately and fully completed for compliance oversight
  • Be the primary contact for Investment Managers for ad hoc and non-standard/complex queries. Proactively identify areas of expansion/improvement to portfolio risk monitoring practices, in keeping with industry best practice

What you will bring to the team

  • Educated to a CISI level 4 Investment Advice Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience of monitoring portfolio management and/or wealth management regulated individuals and monitoring of packaged products
  • Good knowledge of financial investments, e.g. equities, bonds, derivatives
  • An understanding of training and competence requirements, investment management suitability requirements and risk management
  • Proven ability to put forward and challenge a case to reach a workable solution to internal issues of policy implementation
