Operations Manager

The main focus of the role of Operations Manager, is to develop and manage the internal functions and processes of a growing and nimble Investment Operations Function . The role will be responsible for the processes to operate and control Investment fund management, discretionary portfolio management, investment research development and investment advice provision.

Duties

Initial responsibilities

To undertake a review of existing operational protocols and to develop a business plan to transition to a target operating model that delivers scalable and efficient investment operations, a suitable control infrastructure to manage operational and regulatory risk and an operational strategic advantage.

Operational responsibilities

  • Document, control, measure and improve processes. Recommend who and where processes are undertaken to deliver optimal efficiency and commercial benefit within the following product streams:
  • Fund management - operational adherence to fund policy, liaison with our Authorised Commercial Director (ACD), operational delivery of fund related processes
  • Discretionary portfolio management: client onboarding, client documentation production and communications processes, Investment related processes
  • Investment research provision and investment advice: meeting management, customer access to asset intelligence investment research, client documentation and communications

Process quality management

  • Build and maintain a repository of asset intelligence processes detailing controls and their effectiveness. Develop datasets to enable process quality to be measured, tracked and reported
  • Utilise operational quality data to refine and improve operational performance and commerciality
  • Utilise operational quality data to oversight and monitor commercial partners that undertake operations processes on behalf of asset intelligence

Compliance and governance

  • Design and build operational risk testing protocols to independently validate AIPM's adherence to regulation, law and internal policies and standards
  • Management information (MI) and reporting. Build and maintain an MI suite that encapsulates AIPM's compliance, risk and governance. Periodic reports and appropriate escalations will be made to senior management, Compliance and the board
  • Maintain awareness of pertinent regulatory change and provide collaborative consultation with AIPM teams to develop best practice

Skills needed

  • Highly curious with a passion for operations management, the UK regulatory framework and working with teams to develop and deliver operational and commercial excellence
  • Extensive experience of the operational management and delivery of investment services within a regulated environment
  • Strong understanding of current regulatory and legal frameworks and be able to comply to these and internal policies and procedures
  • Experience of managing people and stakeholders
