To oversee and line manage a team to ensure timely, efficient and accurate research is completed for the Advisers.

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Line management of all members of the team
  • Dealing with any staffing or work-flow issues/requirements within the team, escalating to the Technical Research Manager where necessary
  • Identify training needs for all team members, ensure any training requirements are met
  • Identify any process issues/improvements and escalate for investigation
  • Ensure that the team adheres to SLA's
  • Provide coaching and support to other team members

In addition to the above managerial responsibilities, the Research Team Supervisor will need to continually develop and improve their technical knowledge by completing research cases alongside their team.

The additional responsibilities are therefore:

  • Participating in and delivering comprehensive financial research, within set SLAs, on products and investments on an independent basis using company-approved research tools
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the firm's advice guidance, as and when delivered
  • Producing, when required, tax and other complex calculations
  • Preparing and delivering bespoke investment reports, within set SLAs, to clients through the analysis of existing investment portfolios
  • Collating, preparing and interpreting complex plan information with a view to completing transfer analysis
  • Preparing complex financial planning reports, within set SLAs, in multiple financial planning areas
  • Researching and reviewing, where necessary, new and existing legislation and technical/product information to aid in the role that is performed
  • Communicating with IFAs coherently on a regular basis, in order to gather sufficient information on client cases, and updating on case progress
  • Maintaining and developing knowledge and technical understanding of all financial planning concepts, through personal management of own CPD
  • Participating in firm research projects, adhering to set deadlines, as and if required

Requirements

  • Diploma in Financial Planning as a minimum qualification requirement
  • Demonstration of knowledge, interest and experience in personal financial planning and in the construction of financial planning research and suitability reports
  • Experience in an IFA environment, demonstrating quality communications of constructive feedback
  • A high standard of written and communication skills
  • An ability to demonstrate strong report-writing skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude in Microsoft Office
