My client is currently looking for an experience Portfolio Manager to join their firm in Harrogate.

Reporting to the Investment Director, the role consists of;

  • The formulation and implementation of the portfolios investment strategies
  • Asset/sector/fund idea generation and analysis
  • Qualitative and quantitative due diligence of funds and overall portfolios
  • Analysing market and portfolio risks
  • Driving investment research
  • Meeting clients with their Financial Advisers where appropriate
  • Attend Fund Manager and economist meetings on an ongoing basis
  • Formulate qualitative and quantitative due diligence of funds and overall portfolios
  • Involved in communication of portfolio strategies and performance updates to staff and clients
  • Portfolio and product panel risk monitoring
  • Risk monitoring of full range of portfolios in line with volatility tolerances
  • Identify with investment department (ID) each month any specific research (assets/sectors/funds) to target for review in addition to normal existing portfolio analysis
  • Proactively arrange Fund Manager meetings/sector analysis for presentation to investment team
  • Statistical analysis from Morningstar using existing templates for sector/fund analysis
  • Comparison with existing portfolio funds and any other funds considered
  • Qualitative information - (Manager process/views/rationale for periods of out-performance/under-performance
  • Quarterly asset allocation
  • Quarterly portfolio/fund in focus

Person specification:

  • IMC/CFA qualification
  • Qualifications in business studies, management, statistics, finance, mathematics, accounting or economics

Knowledge/experience:

  • Experience in portfolio strategy, planning and financial analysis
  • Passionate about formulating portfolio strategies to deliver client objectives
  • First class communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and professionally with both internal members of staff and external clients as well as confident presentation skills
  • Strong financial/analytical skills along with experience in financial modelling
  • Proficient and practical commercial experience
  • The ability to interpret both qualitative and quantitative data research data
  • A forward thinker - identify trends, risks and opportunities regarding investments
