Job description
The Opportunity
Here you'll be joining this Edinburgh-based insurance business within the technical broking team who are the engine room of the operation.
The business here has been at the heart of Edinburgh's buoyant insurance market for over 40 years, building an excellent name as an employer of choice and trusted advisor to many of the key businesses that shape the regional Edinburgh business community.
Here you'll play a Commercial Account Handler role, supporting a small team of Executives who manage books in excess of £400k income across all main commercial classes.
You'll enjoy full professional development, mentoring and plenty of client time where you'll get to meet clients, and get involved at industry events, seminars and institute functions.
What's in it for you?
A proper broking environment: Here you'll work in a creative, technical broking team where new business comes in from referral, not from cold calling.
Rewarding client work: Handling all lines of business across multiple sectors, using Acturis and having loads of mentoring from a team of skilled Executives and technical leaders.
Career growth: Be part of a team where progression is not only supported but actively encouraged.
Technical development: Collaborate with some of the sharpest minds in insurance, gaining exposure to top corporate accounts and respected local businesses.
A collaborative culture: Work hand-in-hand with key insurer panels, London markets, and UK-wide colleagues to shape and administer complex insurance solutions.
Your Role
As a Commercial Account Handler, you'll operate in the client management team, focusing primarily on existing clients. Your responsibilities will include:
Handling a diverse portfolio of mid-market commercial clients across multiple industries, including charities, financial institutions, technology, renewables, engineering, manufacturing, and food & drink.
Day-to-day involvement for new business placement, MTAs and renewal activity within your portfolio allocation - with individual risks in the £25k - £200k GWP bracket.
Providing smooth support to allocated Account Executives for research, report preparation and presentations, often on a face-to-face basis with clients.
Ensuring a seamless client experience and utilising in-house claims, new business, risk management and financial service teams.
Supporting Executives with new business presentations and projects while managing your own renewals and MTAs.
Utilising the Acturis system for day-to-day service and reporting.
What We're Looking For
Experience: A proven background as an Account Handler or Broker within the insurance broker sector, with solid knowledge of P&C insurance.
Skills: A sharp eye for detail, strong technical acumen, and the ability to manage relationships with clients, insurers and within the internal Executive teams.
Location: Ideally based near Edinburgh, with the ability to work in the office 3 days per week.
Ambition: Whether you're an experienced professional or a rising star, you'll find a place here to grow and excel.
