Job description
The purpose of the role:
To ensure regulatory compliance across a broad portfolio of (re)insurance activities in all 50 US states and key international markets enabling the business to operate with confidence, meet regulatory obligations and avoid unnecessary risk or cost.
The opportunity:
A leading global (re)insurance group is seeking a regulatory compliance professional to join its established legal team. This role sits within a wider legal function but operates as a compliance specialist, responsible for the coordination and execution of essential filings, registrations and regulator liaison.
The position is 3 days per week in the Stamford office offering exposure to high-value, high-impact work in a complex, fast-paced corporate environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain insurance and reinsurance company licenses, surplus lines authorities and corporate registrations
- Prepare and submit regulatory filings (e.g. annual/quarterly statements, supplemental exhibits, data calls)
- Process assessments, invoices and payments to state departments and associations
- Review and fulfil state-specific filing checklists and compliance reporting requirements
- Manage state security deposits and unclaimed property filings
- Draft NAIC biographical affidavits for new Senior Officers
- Respond to litigation documents (e.g. subpoenas) and assist with consumer complaints
- Liaise with finance, accounting and external regulators to coordinate required information
- Monitor and interpret relevant insurance and corporate legislation
- Support special projects and assist during peak filing periods (some overtime required)

- Legal research skills preferred
- Comfortable managing a high volume of regulatory deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
