The Opportunity
An established and highly regarded Scottish law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join its Dispute Resolution team. The firm offers a strong platform for career development within a supportive and professional environment.
This role would suit an ambitious litigation solicitor who enjoys managing a varied caseload, working with autonomy, and delivering a first-class service to a broad client base.
The Role
You will be responsible for managing a diverse dispute resolution caseload, including:
- Personal and commercial contract disputes
- Property disputes
- Landlord and tenant matters
- Professional negligence claims
- Some criminal defence work (primarily motoring offences)
- You will work closely with partners while also supervising and supporting junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied litigation caseload from instruction to resolution
- Conducting litigation in the Sheriff Court
- Raising and defending alternative dispute resolution actions, including First Tier Tribunal proceedings and arbitrations
- Providing training, supervision, and mentoring to trainees and junior solicitors
- Ensuring compliance with client service standards and maintaining strong client relationships
Skills & Experience Required:
- Strong experience in general and/or commercial litigation
- Advocacy experience in the Sheriff Court and/or First Tier Tribunal
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- High level of commercial awareness
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
