Job description
If you're the kind of broker who takes real satisfaction from cracking complex placements and building meaningful relationships with the market - this might be the move you've been waiting for.
This opportunity sits with a well-known Chartered Insurance Broker with a strong reputation for technical capability and service excellence. With a network of offices across the UK, they've built deep relationships with insurers and clients alike - from global manufacturers and real estate portfolios to public sector bodies, tech firms, and life sciences specialists.
The Glasgow office is home to a tight-knit team who collaborate closely across broking, placement, and client servicing. They're known for being professional, well-organised, and ambitious - but also for treating people like adults.
You'll join as a New Business Placing Broker, working alongside Account Executives and senior colleagues to secure coverage for a diverse range of property and casualty risks. Your role will be pivotal in driving new business success and maintaining the firm's reputation for excellence in the market.
Day-to-day, you'll:
- Manage relationships with insurers, underwriters, and market partners.
- Place and negotiate complex and challenging cases - the ones that need persistence, persuasion, and proper market knowledge.
- Troubleshoot key accounts where creative solutions and confident negotiation can make the difference.
- Represent the firm at insurer meetings, technical seminars, and industry events.
This isn't a tick-box broking role. It suits someone who enjoys the technical side of insurance, takes pride in finding solutions others can't, and has the gravitas to push back (politely but firmly) when it matters.
You'll need:
- Commercial broking experience, ideally across multiple classes.
- Strong technical grounding in property and casualty risks.
- Confidence working with a range of clients - from innovative start-ups to established corporates and charities.
- A curious mindset and a genuine interest in the detail behind complex risks.
In return, you'll join a respected name in the market, surrounded by experienced peers and backed by a leadership team that invests in people. You'll have hybrid flexibility (3 days a week in the Glasgow office) and a straightforward two-stage recruitment process - one general interview and one technical test.
If you're a confident, curious broker who enjoys the challenge of making difficult placements look easy - we should talk.
