I am recruiting for a rare board-level opportunity with a highly respected independent broker, inheriting a book from a retiring Account Director.

They are not retiring for a while, so you'll have the chance to work closely with them to ensure a thorough, well-supported handover of their clients.

You will report directly to the Managing Director and hold a seat on the board, where you'll have genuine influence over the strategic direction of the business.

Beyond managing and growing a high-value book of corporate and large commercial clients-generating around £500,000 in income-you'll play a key role in shaping the company's future.

Working for an independent broker means you'll benefit from greater autonomy, closer collaboration with decision-makers, and the ability to truly shape outcomes for clients without the red tape of a larger corporate environment.

As a board member, you'll help steer overall business planning and growth initiatives, bring fresh ideas to the leadership table, and contribute to decision-making at the highest level. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor and support the next generation of talent coming through the business, helping to build and strengthen the team for long-term success.

When I asked the CEO why this was, his answer was simple but stood out. Look after your staff and they won't leave.

You will have a proven and successful track record in a similar position ideally with a focus on corporate or large commercial clients.


You will be at least DIP qualified but APFS, or perhaps even an LLB etc qualifications are all acceptable too.
