Medical Malpractice Development Underwriter
London
£90,000 - £140,000 + bonus, benefits and LTIPs
A well-established Medical Malpractice underwriting team is looking to expand and bring on board an experienced Development Underwriter to boost growth in the mid-market sector. The role will ideally be based in London, but applicants further afield in the UK will also be considered, provided they are willing to travel to London regularly.
The current portfolio is made up of fairly sizeable risks (average £100k GWP), split roughly equally between UK and international business. The company boasts an in-house claims team of legally trained professionals.
The Development Underwriter will play a pivotal role in driving profitable growth through:
- Strategic underwriting (primarily new but also existing)
- Broker engagement - both Lloyd's and independents
- Portfolio development
- Contributing to the evolution of Med Mal underwriting strategy
- Attending market events
- Monitoring portfolio performance and identifying areas for improvement
The ideal candidate for this role will have a solid grounding in Medical Malpractice insurance as an Underwriter, however well-connected Brokers will also be considered. This business have established relationships with the Global Brokers, but their footprint with the national and independent Brokers is less prominent; so these connections would be especially useful. Naturally, a results driven, growth mindset is key, hand in hand with exceptional relationship building skills.
