An exciting opportunity to build and lead the compliance function in a growing European business.
We are partnering with an insurance intermediary currently expanding its European operations, to appoint their first compliance hire in the Netherlands.
Based in Amsterdam, this role will be instrumental in setting up and embedding governance and control frameworks across the region as the business grows into new territories over the next 1-3 years.
The Role
Reporting into the Divisional Head of Risk and Compliance and working closely with the Operations Executive, you will play a key role in developing and implementing effective governance, monitoring and reporting frameworks across European offices.
You will act as a trusted Compliance Advisor to the business, ensuring that operations in the Netherlands and wider Europe meet local, divisional and group regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and embed compliance governance frameworks, controls and MI/reporting processes across European offices
- Provide accurate and pragmatic compliance advice in line with Dutch (Wft, AFM, DNB) and EU regulations
- Ensure adherence to GDPR/AVG and other relevant data protection laws
- Collaborate with group risk and compliance teams to implement policies in line with group risk appetite
- Support the business in managing breaches, complaints and E&O incidents, focusing on root cause analysis and remediation
- Develop and track compliance KPIs to monitor ongoing effectiveness
- Lead or support Product Governance and PARP processes as required by the AFM
- Work independently and collaboratively across a range of stakeholders to embed a culture of compliance
About You
- Strong working knowledge of Dutch regulatory requirements (Wft, DNB, AFM) and familiarity with EU regulation
- Experience in developing and monitoring governance frameworks, MI and reporting
- Confident working autonomously, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
- Fluent in Dutch and English (written and spoken)
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a solution-oriented mindset
