Data & Analytics Product Owner

Job description

​WPR is currently working with a highly respected insurance company to recruit for a Data & Analytics Product Owner. This will be a permanent position with a benchmarked salary of £60,000-£70,000 per year plus bonus and benefits. The overall purpose of the role is to take ownership of the data platform, managing the process from source data to the presentation layer, and acting as the sign-off authority for underlying data models. You will also manage and prioritise the Data & Analytics (D&A) backlog, working collaboratively with the data architect, data engineers, data analysts and other business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, timely and meets requirements.

Primary Responsibilities of Role

  • Accountable for the design of data models through different data domains that can support supports analytical processes and reporting.

  • Responsible for up-to-date technical documentation in and Enterprise Architecture tool.

  • Responsible for prioritising the backlog of work for our Data Lakehouse and BI tool based on business and technically priorities/dependencies.

  • Responsible for presenting solutions to the Technical Design Authority (board of architects).

  • Ensure the data flows are documented and data marts reconciliation from source to reporting layer is certified.

  • Lead and collaborate with a multi-skilled team to deliver against the D&A strategy

  • Be an ambassador for the art of the possible, ensure that structured analytical solutions are scalable and meet the business objectives whether tactical or strategic.

  • Identify and assess internal and external data sources to derive business insights, tactical decision making and hypothesis.

  • Develop fit-for-purpose, resilient, scalable and future-proof data services to meet user needs

  • Implement data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems

  • Develop Key Performance Indicators and metrics that measure the performance of the data platform.

Role Specific Technical Skills and Knowledge/Qualifications Knowledge;

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field.

  • Experienced with cloud technologies focusing on Microsoft platform. E.g. Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, or Microsoft Azure Databricks

  • Proficient in using tools like Python, R, or SQL to automate repetitive tasks, conduct analyses, and develop custom solutions.

  • Exposure to Azure DevOps and CI/CD concepts would be beneficial.

  • Prior experience with data warehousing, modelling and analysis.

  • Good knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
