Investment Research Manager

Job description

My client is currently looking for a Specialist Investment Research Manager to join their team in Leeds City Centre.

Supporting the Director of Investment Management and leading a small team, the Investment Research Manager is responsible for leading their centralised research function and dynamic research projects.


  • Write and edit investment commentary for press articles
  • Keep abreast of industry and market news, leading on investment ideas to deliver winning insights and developments for clients to achieve excellence
  • Chair and contribute to various investment research committees and MPS committees, dictating and developing supporting documentation and research tasks beforehand
  • Performance (appraisals, performance reviews and succession planning), recognition, and off-boarding oversee and support the delivery of client facing publications, writing, sourcing and editing content
  • Acquire and develop large research and complex data-sets, including developing data sharing agreements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with research leaders and organisations within the field
  • Grow personal profile contributing to local and national media outputs
  • To sit on the firms managed portfolio service (MPS) committee and contribute to the discussion and portfolio construction
  • Head the investment research student placement scheme, leading the selection process and then developing the students, sharing industry research and learnings
  • Responsible for mitigating and reporting any risks which may be detrimental to client's or the firm's reputation, which arise from and not limited to, inadequate procedures, systems or data handling


  • Minimum of CISI Level 4/CFA IMC, ideally CFA Charterholder or Level 7 Investment Advice Diploma in Securities or other equivalent accredited body qualification relating to securities
  • Detailed knowledge of all aspects of investments, including regulation and industry standards
  • Experienced investment research professional with demonstrable experience of managing people
  • Stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator
