Senior Technology Underwriter - Copenhagen

Job description

Our client is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Technology underwriting team to further grow our industry leading proposition for the Technology and Communication industry. Key products include Professional Liability (Tech PI), Cyber and GL (Public and Products Liability).


The job is to be the lead Technology underwriter in an small but ambitious team in Copenhagen, servicing the Nordic Countries and with a strong international collaboration across Europe. The job include both underwriting of individual complex risk as well as portfolio overview and working with distribution and collaboration with insurance brokers and clients across Scandinavia.

  • Underwriting complex as well as more simple Technology risks from around Scandinavia
  • Adhere to company guidelines, standards, raters and referral process when applicable
  • Discuss risks and questions with brokers, agents and clients
  • Prepares written communications on adverse underwriting decisions, rate appeals, underwriting requirements, status and declination's. Verbally notifies brokers of decisions where appropriate in order to ensure clear understanding of the decision
  • Analyses quality, quantity, and profitability of risks underwritten and prepares reports for management review
  • Proactively contribute to Distribution and marketing - including making field visits to partners across Scandinavia. Portfolio overview and reporting
  • Participate in products development including amending wordings and proposal forms etc.
  • Develops and maintains positive Broker relationships
  • Keeps current on state/territory issues, regulations and trends within relevant products and professions
  • Works with referral point on risks exceeding authority level or requiring special handling
  • Provide input to make processes more efficient, product development or strategic initiatives
  • Support more junior underwriters within the scope of the role
  • May perform additional duties as assigned
  • Some travel expected - up to approx. 25 days annually


Skills And experience required.

  • High level of knowledge within Tech PI and Cyber
  • We can consider candidates with a background in technology, Cyber or PI
  • Technical understanding of Technology and IT enabling a good understanding of the risks underwritten
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (in English and "Scandinavian") and an outgoing character
  • Ability to effectively interact with peer level internal and external business partners both locally and internationally
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership and responsibility
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and make sound business decisions effectively
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software
