Underwriting Accountant

Job description

Our client, a leading London Market Insurer, is looking for an qualified Accountant to join their underwriting accounting team. The underwriting accounting team is responsible for the production and analysis of GAAP and Solvency II underwriting information using the Annual Accounting Model (AAM). The team is also responsible for a large amount of the management reporting that is used to support the development of the business. The main duties of the role will be:

  • Provision of regular reporting into key stakeholders
  • Provision of underwriting results to the regulatory reporting team for inclusion within regulatory returns
  • Syndicate level ownership for underwriting values in the P&L
  • Go to person for questions relating to your Syndicate
  • Quarterly presentation of the underwriting balance sheet
  • Liaise with other departments to support the production, development and reconciliation of all relevant inputs that feed all the underwriting accounting processes
  • Identify and implement automations and efficiency improvements in all the AAM processes


To be considered for this role you must have the following experience:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Experience of working in a team and as an individual
  • Educated to a good overall standard, with good overall pass grades in relevant subjects
  • London Insurance Market experience, specifically Lloyd's
