Underwriting Product Analyst

Job description

Working in a team who are responsible for underwriting credit and political risks through Lloyd's and the company markets. These risks relate to non-payment and non-performance of private and public sector counter-parties, and political perils such as expropriation or confiscation of assets by foreign governments, export embargo, forced abandonment, war etc. Clients are banks, corporates, trading companies, export credit agencies and multilaterals. You will be responsible for supporting the Chief Underwriting Officer providing advanced operational business support to the underwriting team.


This will include:

  • Coordination of underwriting support activities across the global locations to achieve revenue, profit plans, strategies, and internal/external standards
  • Contribute to and participate in relevant meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practice
  • Contribute as and when required to the business planning and outwards reinsurance renewals
  • process through research and preparation of relevant materials
  • Act as an operational focal point for global underwriting team, ensuring appropriate understanding of products, business models, systems, and reporting standards
  • Consult on and provide support for wider business projects
  • Understand the relevant business metrics which may include operational data, metrics, competitor information, and feedback from business partners and provide analysis to drive improvements
  • Conduct analysis work to a consistently high standard within a range of business areas, producing output to agreed timescales, and standards



Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Relevant professional qualifications and strong academic record
  • Experience in management consulting or financial services experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of insurance business preferred
  • Good knowledge of business functions, business operations, objectives and strategies
  • Organisation design and operating model - proven ability to structure, develop and deliver transformation solutions
  • Proven ability in business planning and analysis
  • Excellent project management skills - to lead and deliver change within areas of responsibility
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
