Account Director

Job description

If you know the Highlands and Islands, you'll know this: trust, reputation, and relationships count more than job titles or how active you are on LinkedIn.

This brokerage gets it. They're one of the most respected names in Scotland - a brand local clients already trust. The kind of firm where the logo on your business card opens doors instead of making you cold call your way in.

Why This Role Exists

The leadership team here aren't locked away in meetings. They're out in the market, helping their people win business. And they know Inverness and the surrounding region inside-out - the clients, the sectors, the quirks of doing business here.
They need someone who can take a strong foundation and grow it. You'll be working with clients who already value the firm, supported by introducers who actively feed business in, and with direct access to all the right insurer markets.

What You'll Walk Into

  • An inherited commercial portfolio generating £150k+ income - warm, well-managed, and full of growth potential

  • A referral framework with active introducers already in place

  • Direct access to top-tier UK markets, plus specialist schemes and niche lines for harder-to-place risks

  • A strong, local reputation you can leverage immediately

  • Clients within reach - no 300-mile road trips to make your numbers

The Work

You'll be the point person for a mix of established and growth-focused commercial clients across the Highlands and Islands. That means:

  • Protecting and developing the existing book

  • Building new relationships through the referral network and your own market contacts

  • Spotting cross-sell and upsell opportunities in specialist lines

  • Being visible in the local business community - not just in the office

Who This Is For

  • An Account Executive who knows their market but feels hemmed in by a firm that doesn't support growth

  • A Senior Account Handler ready to step into a portfolio of your own and get rewarded for the business you develop

  • Someone who thrives on relationships, not just transactions

If you know your patch, understand the clients, and want the infrastructure to make something happen - this is worth a conversation.

What's On Offer

  • Up to £70k base + bonus + car allowance

  • Immediate portfolio to manage and grow

  • A respected Scottish brand with deep insurer relationships

  • Local leadership that invests in you - not just your results

  • Long-term career progression without having to leave the Highlands
