Assistant P&C Underwriter

Job description

Progression.

"The process of developing or moving gradually towards a more advanced state."

Its good to progress.

It means you are moving in the right direction. Being challenged.

Evolving.

With many insurers offering little scope for advancement, its easy to fall into a career plateau.

So, it takes something very special to break that.

And that's what we have here.

This insurer is expanding in Glasgow and are looking for an ambitious Underwriter to join them on their journey.

More about the firm...

Globally recognised, they are known for their innovative and entrepreneurial approach to supporting clients and Brokers.

They have created a market leading product portfolio across both core P&C and specialist markets which combined with their flexible underwriting attitude has given them the edge in the corporate scene.

Spearheaded by an ambitious and forward-thinking senior team, they have a clear plan to build their operations in the UK, bucking the trend across the corporate players.

The vibe here is different to that of a mainstream composite insurer with a faster pace, more local decision making and much more of a technical feel.

More about the opportunity…

Working in a hybrid capacity, you'll work from the city centre offices two days per week with the rest from home.

You'll have a remit for supporting the technical underwriting work within the existing portfolio of property and casualty whilst supporting the growth strategy within the team.

You'll work closely with the existing broker panel to manage new and existing cases whilst working closely with London markets to service global risks.

To support the expansion, you'll be involved in the goals to drive emerging market business across the technology and cyber sectors, allowing you to really put your own stamp on the industry here in Scotland.

Are you the right fit?...

You'll already be working as a Commercial Underwriter and have built up 3 to 5 years of either general commercial or specialist lines experience.

You'll have a proactive approach to underwriting where you can naturally build effective relationships and have commercial awareness for identifying new business opportunities.

You may be frustrated by a lack of opportunity in your current team and have a real desire to be more innovative and in charge of your own future.

This is an entrepreneurial, dynamic organisation meaning growth is happening quickly.

You'll need to be a clear thinking who is driven by the prospect of a real step up to the corporate arena.
