Overview
An award-winning national law firm is seeking an experienced Medical Negligence Solicitor to join their Leeds office on a 12-month fixed term contract. This opportunity sits within a highly regarded team known for handling complex, high-value medical negligence cases - including catastrophic injury, brain and spinal cord injury, amputation and birth injury claims.
This is a great opportunity for an accomplished Lawyer to take on challenging and meaningful work, supported by a leading department recognised in The Legal 500 and The Times for excellence in client service and results.
For the right person, there may be potential for a permanent position at the end of the contract, subject to team requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of complex and high-value medical negligence matters from initial instruction through to resolution
- Conduct detailed investigations, draft statements, prepare reports and letters of advice
- Instruct expert witnesses and Counsel as appropriate
- Prepare and manage disclosure, bundles and other litigation documents
- Attend procedural hearings and demonstrate experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
- Maintain regular and empathetic communication with clients and their families
- Contribute to business development, knowledge sharing and the wider success of the team
Experience and Skills Required
- Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate
- Minimum 6 years' PQE with significant experience handling complex medical negligence or clinical negligence claims
- Strong technical knowledge of medical negligence law and litigation procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively with seriously injured clients and their families
- Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience supervising junior team members or Paralegals is desirable
- Commercially astute, with good financial management and business development awareness
