We are exclusively working with a leading digitally-focused insurance broker specialising in serving affinity business i.e. private rented sector. They also form part of the Digital Division of a larger group. They are committed to leveraging technology and innovation to provide clients with cutting-edge insurance solutions tailored to their unique needs. As they continue to grow and expand their presence in the market, we are looking for a dynamic and visionary Director of Insurance to join their team and lead the insurance operations in the UK.

Role Overview:

  • As the Director of Insurance - UK, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and success of the insurance business within the UK market. You will have a seat at the Board level, reporting directly to the company's executive leadership, and will be responsible for shaping and executing the insurance strategy. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead a rapidly evolving insurance division and make a significant impact on the organisation's growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive insurance strategy that aligns with the company's overall vision and growth objectives. Lead the insurance division, setting clear goals and objectives, and monitor progress toward achieving them.
  • Market Expansion: Identify new business opportunities and market segments within the current lines and offerings. Develop strategies to penetrate these markets and establish our company as a market leader.
  • Product Innovation: Drive product development initiatives to create innovative insurance solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients by collaborating with the local product and marketing teams to bring new insurance products to market.
  • Client Engagement: Foster strong relationships with clients, brokers, and industry partners. Understand client needs and market trends to ensure the insurance offerings remain competitive and relevant.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all insurance operations in the UK comply with relevant regulatory requirements and standards. Stay updated on changes in insurance regulations and implement necessary adjustments. Work with and collaborate with the wider business central services on areas such as Product Governance, Consumer Duty and other risk and regulatory committees and forums.
  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing insurance team, providing coaching, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Financial Management: Manage the insurance division's budget, monitoring financial performance, and implementing cost-effective strategies to maximise profitability.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Implement data-driven decision-making processes, utilising analytics and key performance indicators to evaluate the effectiveness of insurance operations and strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of leadership in the insurance industry, ideally with experience in digital insurance brokerage and knowledge of the UK market.
  • Strong strategic thinking and vision to drive growth and innovation.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance products, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets and drive financial performance.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving objectives.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Insurance) is required. An advanced degree and industry certifications (e.g., ACII, FCII) would be a plus.
