North American Property Technical Specialist

An outstanding opportunity to join a leading global insurance broker. Working within the North American Property team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise to clients and underwriters. Duties will include;

  • Work as part of a team servicing business from North America and elsewhere as required by the Division, into the London and International market always ensuring client needs are met
  • Day to day client servicing from initial submission of risks to hand over to technical team for invoicing. Includes, inter alia:
  • Ensure client records are set up correctly in internal systems, preparing approval forms where necessary
  • Analyse the insured risk in conjunction with the Broker and/or Producer to assess the client requirements, including working on/from schematics as required by the placement
  • Prepare Open Market Reform Contracts for allocated renewals and new business. New business contracts to be produced using templates based on client submissions/Underwriter quotes and mainly using Lloyd's wordings
  • Work in conjunction with Policy Technicians, internal and external stakeholders, ensuring conditions and terms of cover in response to client's needs. Ensure compliance with departmental procedures, internal service standards and the FCA, ensuring Contract Certainty
  • Prepare endorsements and adjustments, working closely with brokers for the day-to-day management of accounts
  • Diary subjectivities/premium payment warranties and conditions and liaise with client and Broker to ensure they are complied with
  • Prepare statistical analysis including loss runs where necessary. Prepare word comparisons where necessary
  • Build strong working relationships with International offices and independent producers, Underwriters, attending internal and external meetings as required
  • Keep abreast of market and regulatory and tax requirements relating to the portfolio in line with individual placements
  • Ensure compliance with external and internal guidelines and procedures as all times
  • Review internal reports and liaise with teams to ensure all client cashes and aged debts are cleared
  • Provide guidance to less experienced members of the Open Market technical team, checking work and providing training where necessary
  • Assist with creating and maintaining Contract templates in conjunction with other Senior Account Handlers and Policy Technicians
  • Undertake any other responsibilities which may become necessary for the proper performance of the role



Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience handling Worldwide open market business, with a specific focus on North America
  • Experience in producing Market Reform Contracts and Endorsements
  • Can manage own workload, an organised individual who can act independently
  • Knowledge of Total Objects
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office programmes/Outlook and Internet Explorer
  • An understanding of regulatory and tax requirements in the territories concerned, using Crystal where appropriate
  • Strong communication skills (including written and verbal (both internally and externally
  • Use of Electronic Placement systems
  • Aptitude for mathematics
  • Understanding and affinity for relationship building
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others - strong interpersonal skill
  • CII qualification at Diploma level (or equivalent insurance qualification)
