This role is about taking ownership of a mid-market commercial property portfolio and actually making it perform better. That means:
- Making smart calls on pricing and risk.
- Working with clever people in Pricing, Actuarial, Data Science, Finance and Claims (the ones who love a spreadsheet more than life itself).
- Helping underwriters in the regions understand strategy without needing a degree in rocket science to follow it.
- Figuring out where growth really is and where it isn't - and then doing something about it.
It's not about hiding behind process. It's about thinking commercially, backing yourself technically, and having a say in how the business grows.
What you'll need
- A solid grounding in commercial property underwriting (mid-market, not micro-SME).
- Experience steering a portfolio, not just handling a case load.
- Enough commercial acumen to understand the P&L and not glaze over.
- Communication skills that work with both underwriters and the senior suits.
- A head for strategy but a willingness to roll your sleeves up when needed.
