Commercial Account Handler

Job description

A highly regarded national insurance brokerage is expanding its Glasgow commercial team and is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Insurance Broker from a broking background only.

This firm continues to attract high-calibre professionals from across the Scottish market - particularly those looking for long-term career stability, genuine autonomy, and a business that still values relationships over process.

The Business

This is a brokerage known for combining scale and market influence with a local, people-led culture. Despite its size and reach, the business operates on a decentralised model, giving teams real ownership of clients, decisions, and careers.

Key strengths include:

  • Strong, long-standing insurer relationships and market credibility
  • A consistent track record of organic growth
  • Low attrition and high internal promotion rates
  • A culture that rewards contribution, not politics

People join this firm because it offers the security of a major player without the bureaucracy that often comes with it.

The Role
As a Commercial Insurance Broker, you will:

  • Manage and service a portfolio of mid-market commercial clients
  • Work across a broad range of sectors including technology, construction, charities, manufacturing, renewables, professional services, and food & drink
  • Handle renewals, MTAs, and day-to-day client servicing with a strong focus on quality and retention
  • Support Account Executives with presentations, insurer negotiations, and client meetings
  • Play a key role in delivering a high-touch, relationship-driven service model
  • Use Acturis as the core broking platform (experience preferred)

This is a true broking role, offering variety, responsibility, and exposure to well-structured commercial risks.

About You
You'll be well suited to this role if you:

  • Have experience in commercial insurance broking (broker background essential)
  • Are comfortable managing clients and insurers directly
  • Have solid technical knowledge across commercial classes
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative, professional team environment
  • Value flexibility and hybrid working, while still engaging with the office and wider team
  • Are based in or within commutable distance of Glasgow

What's in It for You?

  • Competitive salary (circa £45,000, depending on experience) plus benefits
  • Hybrid working - typically 2 days per week in the office
  • A business that invests properly in its people and promotes from within
  • Clear, achievable career pathways without needing to move firms
  • Exposure to high-quality clients and a respected market brand
  • A stable, growing platform where people build long-term careers
