A leading captive management firm in Guernsey is seeking an Insurance Manager - Captive Management to help clients achieve their risk mitigation and financing strategies every day.
This is a hybrid role based in Guernsey, offering flexibility to work from both the St Peter Port office and from home.
What the role involves
In this varied position, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the insurance servicing of a portfolio of captive clients. You will ensure that client strategies, business plans, and insurance programme placements are met while delivering first-class service and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the day-to-day insurance servicing and renewals for a portfolio of captive clients, ensuring all internal and client deadlines are met
- Reviewing insurance-related matters for client Board and Committee meeting packs, and presenting relevant topics at Board and Underwriting Committee meetings
- Drafting and reviewing meeting minutes, and reviewing contract wordings to ensure insurance programmes are fit for purpose and comply with applicable regulatory and legislative requirements
- Developing strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, regulators, insurers, and brokers
- Considering and developing current and existing client insurance programmes, keeping clients informed of relevant developments in the insurance market
- Working closely with Client Services Directors/Client Executives and team colleagues to achieve organisational and client goals
- Acting as a resource for the wider company to ensure consistency of approach and achievement of budgetary objectives
- Actively managing, mentoring, and supporting the development and training of team members
- Providing or reviewing timely insurance and claims information to support the preparation of management accounts
- Contributing to projects and ad hoc work as assigned by the management team, delivering to agreed timescales

Skills and experience for success
- Ideally ACII qualification (or equivalent), or working toward completion, with strong technical knowledge of the insurance and reinsurance industry
- Solid general insurance experience; captive insurance experience and previous staff supervision are desirable
- Strong client-service orientation
- Ability to translate business strategies into operational plans, work effectively with colleagues at all levels, and demonstrate commitment to continuous personal and team development
