Insurer Market Manager

Job description

Role Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected, forward-thinking broker network at a pivotal stage of its growth. The organisation is a collaborative and influential community of independent brokers, widely recognised for the strength of its insurer relationships and its progressive, market-leading approach.
As the business continues to expand and refine its insurer strategy, it is seeking an Insurer Market Manager to take on a high-profile, influential role at the heart of the organisation. This position will play a critical part in shaping market direction, strengthening strategic carrier partnerships, and delivering innovative, value-led propositions for brokers.
For an individual who thrives on relationship-building, strategic thinking, and making a tangible commercial impact, this role offers the opportunity to be part of something distinctive, ambitious, and genuinely collaborative within the insurance market.

The Role
The Insurer Market Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and growing strategic relationships with insurer partners. The focus is on ensuring strong market access, competitive product placement, profitable growth, and close alignment between insurer propositions and the organisation's wider distribution strategy.
Acting as the primary commercial interface between the business and its insurer partners, the role balances senior relationship management with data-driven performance oversight and deep market insight.

Core Responsibilities

  • Relationship Management: Lead and develop long-term strategic partnerships with a defined panel of insurer partners to ensure alignment of objectives and sustainable growth.
  • Commercial Negotiation: Negotiate and secure optimal commercial terms and contractual arrangements to maximise financial performance across the portfolio.
  • Placement Strategy: Shape and execute placement strategies across multiple business lines, ensuring the best outcomes for customers, brokers, and insurers.
  • Market Research & Insight: Act as a subject matter expert on market trends, insurer appetite, and competitor propositions to inform product positioning and strategy.
  • Data & Performance Analysis: Use performance data and MI to identify trading opportunities, monitor placement effectiveness, and support commercial decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including Underwriting, Claims, Sales, and Leadership to align growth ambitions and deliver strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience within the London Market or corporate insurance environment, with proven portfolio and insurer relationship management expertise.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the UK insurance market, relevant product lines (e.g. P&C, L&H), and regulatory requirements, including FCA standards.
  • Key Skills: Excellent commercial negotiation skills, strong analytical capability (including data visualisation), and the ability to manage complex, senior stakeholder relationships.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive base salary + bonus structure.
  • Great benefits package.
  • A respected, growing Broker Network that values its people.
